Welcome to our inaugural festival

The Yale Glee Club is pleased to announce the inaugural Yale International Choral Festival, a new event produced in collaboration with the Yale School of Music, the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, and the Yale Alumni Chorus that promises to carry Yale University’s long tradition of international choral exchange to exciting new frontiers.

The festival will be held June 19-23, 2012, and all activities will take place on the campus of Yale University (New Haven, CT, USA).  Outstanding choirs from four continents will come together for five days of singing, learning, and exploring the connections that choral music fosters between people. Each evening will feature a formal concert in Yale’s renowned Sprague Hall, and each day will be filled with lectures, workshops, and masterclasses for our Conducting Fellows led by visiting conductors, guests, and Yale faculty.

Our featured ensembles include the Central Conservatory of Music Chorus, Beijing; the Cambridge University Consort of Voices, UK; the Manado State University Choir, Indonesia; the Imilonji Kantu Choral Society, South Africa; the Yale Choral Artists, and the Yale Alumni Chorus.

A two-day symposium entitled Choirs Transforming Our World, organized in association with the International Federation for Choral Music’s Conductors Without Borders network and the American Choral Directors Association's International Conductors Exchange Program, will also take place within the festival (June 22 and June 23).  The symposium will explore the ways in which people throughout the US and the world are using choral music to create positive social change, promote mental well-being, and foster community.
You can register to attend the entire 5-day festival, the 2-day symposium, or apply to participate as a Conducting Fellow.
